What data we collect
Scribelet uses PostHog for website analytics. We operate a two-tier model so you stay in control:
- Without consent (cookieless analytics): If you decline, or if you never answer the banner, we still collect pageview and event data, but no analytics cookies are set. The only thing kept in your browser is a local-storage flag recording that you have not accepted analytics; it contains no identifier. Instead, PostHog derives a pseudonymous identifier on its servers by hashing your IP address, browser user agent, the site hostname and a secret salt that rotates every day. The hash cannot be reversed, the inputs are not retained with it, and because the salt rotates the identifier changes daily, so it groups your visits within a single day and cannot follow you from one day to the next. We have also enabled PostHog's IP discarding, so your IP address is not stored on the events themselves. This processing rests on our legitimate interest in understanding aggregate site usage (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)); you can object at any time using the contact address below.
- With consent (full analytics): If you accept analytics cookies, we store a small identifier on your device so we can recognise returning visitors, track feature usage over time, and improve the product. That identifier is stored as a cookie scoped to
scribelet.appand its subdomains, so it is readable across the site. IP-based geolocation may be used.

Analytics provider
We use PostHog hosted in the EU (eu.i.posthog.com). Data is processed in accordance with PostHog's privacy policy.
Your choices
When you first visit the site, a banner lets you Accept or Decline analytics cookies. You can change your preference at any time via the Cookie Settings link in the footer. Declining or revoking consent immediately removes all analytics cookies and local storage entries from your device, and analytics continue in the cookieless mode described above rather than stopping altogether.
